After the mobile trip to California, we headed to Colorado where we met up with the rest of our class who had gone to Washington on a mobile trip, and attended the GO Conference. The GO, for short, was a very exciting conference. We go to meet some of the top leaders in YWAM, and man, are they the humblest people I have ever met. Some of them include John Dawson, Trent Shepherd, Jim Stier and Dean Sherman. My personal favorite was Jim Stier, and if I am not mistaken, it was either he or John Dawson who was asked "How did you become one of the top leaders in YWAM? And to my surprise the response was "because I was the last one, all the more talented ones left in my opinion."!!, and Jim Stier is the one who went to Brazil before they ever sent missionaries out, started up YWAM bases there and trained locals to be missionaries, and now Brazil is number three in sending missionaries! Jim is a great guy, and a great speaker. But I think that my favorite speaker would have had to be Trent Shepherd, because of the enthusiasm and research he brought to his teachings.
The following week we went to Idaho for mobile trip. We did some more ministry there, helping out Chi Alpha (a local campus ministry), and we went to Idaho State University to recruit more students. Then that Wednesday we came back to the base to continue our lecture phase of school. Our speaker was Fred Allen who spoke on radical discipleship. Then this last week Troy Sherman spoke on identity and destiny, neither of these words are in the Bible, but they are referred to quite often. Looking back I have seen how much I and my class mates have grown and I am shocked. My work load has nearly doubled and with that my responsibility as well. On Monday I have my first meeting as DTS Staff meeting and for those of you who have not heard, Troy has asked me and another student to create a program here at Salem called a mini-dts. I have meetings between now and the end of school to find out what that looks like. And then this summer it is supposed to happen. So, please keep me in your prayers for all of that.
As for Thanksgiving, it looks as though I am going to stay behind on the base and celebrate with another student from Switzerland. So happy Turkey-day everyone and enjoy. I hope to see you all for Christmas!
